Though Delaware is the second smallest state in the Union, it has a lot to offer, and lucky for visitors, it doesn’t take long to get from one attraction to the other. Such attractions include the Governor Ross Mansion and Plantation, which gives visitors a glimpse back in time of a fully restored 19th century plantation; the historic Burton Bros. Hardware Store, circa 1893, which is still in operation today and looks much the same as it did when it first opened its doors to the public; and the Cannonball House, which showcases the state’s diverse maritime history. For shoppers, the Shipyard Shops, located along the Delaware River waterfront, offer tax-free outlet stores and a great selection of food. The Nassau Valley Vineyards are also an interesting and beautiful attraction for those who’d like to sample some of the region’s fine local wines. Since part of the state shares it’s coastline with the Atlantic Ocean, sportsmen and women alike can get their fill of deep-sea fishing and sailing through one of the local fishing charters.
